Ocean & Beach Generator

Shore, waves, foam and dunes in one click

Ocean & Beach Generator builds a complete coastline scene in Blender with one click: a sand beach with a dark wet-sand band, an animated ocean whose waves really break on the shore, spray and mist bursting off the rocks, rolling dunes with marram grass, layered sea cliffs with sea stacks, boulders and pebbles.

Pick one of 21 coasts modeled on real beaches around the world, from powder white tropical sand and pink coral sand to pebble and shingle banks, rocky coves, Baltic dune coasts, black volcanic sand, chalk and sandstone cliffs, a glassy blue lagoon and a surf beach with breaking foam lines. Then change anything: sand, water, wave height, bay depth, dunes, cliffs, sea stacks and rocks all rebuild live.

Waves that break, spray that flies

Waves shoal, break and crash into the sea stacks and rocks, throwing spray and soft mist. Pure Geometry Nodes, no baking.

Sea cliffs and sea stacks

Layered cliffs with coves, headlands, a grass plateau and fallen blocks, plus sea stacks standing in the surf.

Sea cliffs and sea stacks

21 real-world coasts

Tropical white sand, pink sand, golden beaches, dunes, pebbles, rocky coves, black volcanic sand, chalk cliffs, lagoons and stormy seas.

From calm to rough

Drag Wave Height: the swell grows offshore and breaks on the beach, live in the viewport.

Realistic sea cliffs

Cliffs are built like the real thing: stacked rock beds with ledges and overhangs, joints and gullies, a wave-cut notch at the foot, coves and headlands, a grass plateau on top, fallen blocks and scree at the base. Add up to 8 sea stacks standing in the surf off the headlands. Chalk, sandstone, granite and basalt each get their own look.

Waves driven by real physics

The waves follow ocean physics: they slow down and grow taller in shallow water, turn to face the shore, break when they get too steep for the depth, run up the beach as swash and slide back. They come in sets like real swell and loop seamlessly. Where a wave hits a rock, a cliff or a sea stack, spray and soft mist burst up and drift away; one toggle and an Amount slider control it. The water fades softly and transparently onto the sand.

No baking

Everything moves with Geometry Nodes driven by scene time, so the scene plays as soon as you press Play, with no drivers, scripts or simulation caches.

Features

  • 21 coast presets in four families: tropical, sand and dunes, pebbles and rocks, cliffs and volcanic
  • Layered sea cliffs with coves, headlands, a grass plateau, fallen blocks, scree and sea stacks
  • Physically based breaking waves with sets, swash and backwash, looping
  • Spray and mist off rocks, cliffs and sea stacks (Spray toggle and Amount slider)
  • Soft transparent water edge, wet sand band, shore foam and offshore breaker lines
  • 6 sands and 5 waters, from turquoise tropical shallows to a dark stormy sea
  • Dunes with marram grass tufts, rocks and pebbles in basalt, granite, sandstone or chalk
  • Photo textures from Poly Haven (CC0) and vertex color masks that also work in game engines
  • One-click Randomize and New Seed for endless new coasts
  • Works in Cycles and EEVEE

Requires Blender 4.2 or newer. Tested on Blender 4.2, 4.5 and 5.2 LTS.

Install in under a minute (Blender 4.2+)

Questions

Which Blender versions are supported?

Blender 4.2 and newer. It is tested on Blender 4.2, 4.5 and 5.2 LTS.

Do the waves need drivers or baking?

No. The ocean and foam move with a Geometry Nodes modifier that reads the scene time, so the animation plays as soon as you press Play and renders on any frame.

Can I use the beach in a game engine?

Yes. The ground, rocks, pebbles and grass are plain meshes with UVs and photo textures. Wet sand and rock areas are stored in a vertex color mask that game engine shaders can read. Apply the Waves modifier to export a frozen ocean surface.

How are the waves and the spray made?

The waves use real ocean physics (dispersion, shoaling, refraction, breaking when the wave height reaches about 0.78 of the water depth, swash and backwash) evaluated in Geometry Nodes. Spray and mist are launched where wave crests reach rocks, cliffs and sea stacks and fly on ballistic paths with air drag. All of it plays live and loops, with no baking.

My spray mist looks solid or dark in Cycles. What do I do?

The mist is many soft transparent puffs. Raise Render Properties > Light Paths > Max Bounces > Transparent to 64 or more so Cycles can see through all of them.
