Train Generator

Steam, diesel, electric, high-speed, metro, trams and freight

Train Generator builds complete, detailed trains in one click, from a 1870s American 4-4-0 to a duckbill bullet train. Pick one of 29 ready-made trains: express, freight, tank and narrow gauge steam engines, a streamliner, diesel road freight, coal, intermodal and tank trains, a yard shunter, intercity and night trains, a boxcab electric, double deck commuters, high-speed trainsets, EMUs, a diesel railcar, metro and graffiti subway cars, modern and vintage trams, light rail, a monorail, a maglev, a funicular, a handcar and a logging train.

Then change anything and the train rebuilds live: the locomotive, how many cars of which kind, what ends the train, the gauge, the body length, width and roof, the nose, windows, doors, bogies, couplers, the livery, the operator name and the running numbers. Steam engines are built from their wheel arrangement, from 0-4-0 to 4-8-4 and Mallets like 2-6-6-2 and 4-8-8-4, as tender or side, saddle and pannier tank engines with valve gear, rods, cab, boiler fittings and tender.

Trains are made to move. The whole train runs along its track at the speed you set, wheels turn, coupling rods and valve gear follow, pantographs and trolley poles rise to the wire and the doors slide open with animatable sliders that play back without a rebuild. The track comes with it: rails, wooden or concrete sleepers, ballast, slab track, street track, third rail, catenary masts and wires, monorail beams and maglev guideways.

Questions

Which Blender versions are supported?

Blender 4.2 and newer. It is tested on Blender 4.2, 4.5 and 5.2 LTS.

Can I use the trains in a game engine?

Yes. Set Detail low, then use Convert to Mesh. The meshes have UVs and plain Principled BSDF materials with image textures, so they export to FBX and glTF for Unreal, Unity or Godot.

Are the operators and liveries real?

No. Every operator name, number and livery is made up, so you can use the renders in commercial work. Type your own operator name if you need a specific one.

Can I animate the train?

Yes. Turn on Animate and the train runs along the track at the set speed with turning wheels and moving rods. Travel, Doors Open and Pantograph Up are animatable sliders that play back in real time without a rebuild.

Does it match real track gauges?

Yes. Gauge is a setting: standard gauge is 1435 mm and narrow gauge presets use 600 mm and 914 mm. The vehicles scale with the gauge and sit on the generated track, which can also be switched off.
